A Halloween show built around a hidden room inside Battersea Arts Centre opens on 16 October. Room 13 runs at the Lavender Hill venue until 1 November.
The room lies within the building’s original stone structure. It was uncovered during the renovation work that followed the fire at the arts centre on 13 March 2015. What was inside was said to be disturbing enough for work there to stop on the spot.
Eleven years after the fire, the door is opening again, and this time the public can go in.
People who book become members of the Circle of the Veil, which the organisers describe as a secret society of paranormal investigators. Their job is to work out what has been going on inside the building.
The show is billed as theatrical and immersive. Live performers carry the action, backed up by special effects. Julie, who is not identified further in the announcement, said Room 13 “will shock, thrill, and leave you breathless”.
The experience was created by Immersive Octopus, working with Battersea Arts Centre.
Tickets for the opening weekend are pay what you can, and the centre suggests paying £16. Once that weekend is over, a standard ticket costs £20 and a peak ticket costs £24.50.
Full booking details are on the Battersea Arts Centre website. The centre is on Lavender Hill in Battersea, and the show runs for just over two weeks, finishing on 1 November.
