A free exhibition of rock and pop memorabilia is open at the Cumberland Hotel by Marble Arch from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 September 2026. Every item is going under the hammer later in a Propstore sale.
One of the main lots is a paper poster from 1976 advertising a Sex Pistols gig, when a ticket cost £1. It is now estimated at £20,000 to £40,000. At the cheaper end, Freddie Mercury’s very large teddy bear has an estimate of £800.
A wall of clothes and costumes puts a dress Tina Turner wore next to a worn Nirvana T-shirt. Nearby is a Heaven-branded top that Freddie Mercury owned from his nights at the club. Two pairs of sunglasses sit side by side: Elvis Presley’s are estimated at £10,000 and George Michael’s at £15,000 or more. A pair of John Lennon’s glasses has a much higher estimate.
Elsewhere in the room, music fans will find guitars and a drum kit, plus lyric sheets written by hand, one wall covered in signed records and yet more costumes.
Entry is free, but you need to book a ticket first on Eventbrite. The show is downstairs in the hotel basement, reached by the staircase beside the red phone box. From there, head round to the Remix 1 and 2 rooms.
