Salvador Dalí & The Modern Masters also includes work by Picasso and Chagall. Entry to the Westbourne Grove gallery is free.
Sculptures and original works on paper by Salvador Dalí are on show for free in Notting Hill, at Clarendon Fine Art Gallery on Westbourne Grove. The exhibition closes on Monday 28 September.
Dalí is one of the few artists whose style even casual art fans recognise, and this show gives visitors a close look at how much he produced. Called Salvador Dalí & The Modern Masters, it opened on Friday 18 September and is in London for only two weekends. Many of the pieces on display have not been shown to the public before.
The show covers the surrealist style Dalí is famous for, but it also looks at a less familiar side of his work. Visitors can see his sketches and unfinished pieces. There are also early ideas that went on to shape later artworks.
Dalí is not the only artist on the walls. The exhibition also brings in what it calls “rare masterpieces” by Picasso and Chagall, along with work by other pioneers of the modern era. It sets out to celebrate the innovation of the Surrealist movement, and the works were chosen to give a wide view of that period and style.
The exhibition runs from Friday 18 September until Monday 28 September, and entry costs nothing. Clarendon Fine Art’s gallery is at number 220 on Westbourne Grove, postcode W11 2RH.
By public transport, Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill Gate are the closest stations. The show will not be in town for long, and Monday 28 September is its last day.
