David Bowie: You’re Not Alone, the immersive show at Lightroom in King’s Cross, will now run until 10 January 2027. The extension means it will still be open on 8 January, when the singer would have turned 80.
The show is part of Bowie80, a worldwide programme of events and new releases running through 2026 and 2027 to mark the anniversary.
David Bowie: You’re Not Alone at Lightroom
Lightroom’s 360-degree space is filled with archive film and rare interviews, along with Bowie’s photographs, drawings and notes. Bowie is the only voice heard. The footage covers his whole career, from Space Oddity to Star, and includes the Rock ‘N’ Roll Suicide he sang at Hammersmith Odeon in 1973. Adult tickets start at £25.
On Thursday 8 October Lightroom hosts Bowie Nights: David Bowie Music Lover. Geoff MacCormack, Bowie’s friend and collaborator since childhood, shares the stage with Alan Edwards, Bowie’s publicist for many years, and the writer Jérôme Soligny. They will talk about the music Bowie loved over his lifetime, and the main show is screened afterwards. Tickets for the evening start at £27.50.
Bowie’s childhood home in Bromley to open in 2027
The Heritage of London Trust is restoring the terraced house in Bromley where Bowie lived from eight until he was 20. The trust aims to welcome visitors from late 2027. The small railway workers’ cottage, with two rooms upstairs and two down, will be put back as it looked in the early 1960s. An archive never seen before is being used to recreate the layout inside.
His bedroom, just 9ft by 10ft, is the focus of much of the work. The Jones Day Foundation has given £500,000 towards the restoration, and fundraising is still going on. In 1969 Bowie performed on an Edwardian bandstand a short distance from the house. Bromley Council and the trust brought that bandstand back into good repair in 2024.
