The Broadwick Street dim sum restaurant serves its final lunch on 26 September and plans to reopen in late 2027 with a more seasonal menu.
Yauatcha, the dim sum restaurant on Broadwick Street in Soho, is closing for a year so it can be redesigned. The Hong Kong film director Wong Kar Wai is the creative consultant on the project.
The last service before the closure is lunch on 26 September, and the restaurant is due to reopen in late 2027. Anyone who wants to eat there before the redesign has until that lunch.
Yauatcha opened in Soho in 2004. It was set up by Alan Yau, the restaurateur behind Michelin-starred Hakkasan, who wanted to offer excellent food cheaply. After 22 years, the owners want a major refurbishment and have asked Wong Kar Wai to shape the new look.
“A great film starts with a great story, and so does a great restaurant,” the director said. He said it was a pleasure to be part of the restaurant’s next chapter.
The food is changing too. Fan Choi recently joined the group as research and development chef. He has cooked at Aulis Hong Kong and at Mora, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong, and is bringing in a menu led more by the seasons.
Yauatcha is at 15-17 Broadwick Street, W1F 0DL. More information is on the Hakkasan Group website and on Instagram at @yauatchalondon.
Its final service is lunch on 26 September 2026, and it then closes for about a year.
It is due to reopen in late 2027.
