The Borough Market restaurant's second site, at the Virgin hotel on Curtain Road, adds all-day dining and a halal Sunday roast menu.
ROAST, the British restaurant that has looked down on the floor of Borough Market for more than 20 years, is opening a second site in Shoreditch on 21 October 2026. It is the restaurant’s first new opening in over two decades, and bookings are already open.
The new branch takes over the large dining room inside the Virgin hotel at 45 Curtain Road. The space was once part of the Mondrian and later housed Marcus Samuelsson’s Red Rooster and Dani Garcia’s Bibo. It now extends into the conservatory, and a chef’s table is planned. The restaurant describes the look as a “contemporary Victorian-inspired urban conservatory”.
Sundays revolve around five signature roasts, each with its own sides or sauces on top of the usual trimmings. Every plate gets roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. Savoy cabbage comes too, along with minted courgette and peas plus a carrot and swede crush. Truffled cauliflower cheese is not included as standard but can be ordered as a side to share.
The signature beef Wellington arrives with truffle mash and madeira sauce. The Sunday special is a slow-cooked lamb shank on buttered mash with red wine jus and mint sauce.
A separate halal menu covers both the Sunday roast and the main à la carte. Non-meat eaters can choose a nut roast or veggie burgers.
The Shoreditch site will serve from breakfast through brunch and afternoon tea to dinner. Breakfast has always mattered at ROAST, and the Full Borough heads the menu here. Bacon butties and benedicts sit alongside tattie scones and smoked kippers.
The rest of the week runs on an à la carte menu. Anyone craving a roast midweek can order the 42-day-aged roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and horseradish sauce, or the signature pork belly. Specials change daily. Monday brings a pie of steak, ale and bone marrow, Thursday’s special is suckling pig, and monkfish Wellington also appears. The wider menu runs from Carlingford oysters to a haggis and pork Scotch egg. Cornish scallops crudo and braised lamb scrumpets feature too, with steaks from the grill.
ROAST Shoreditch is at 45 Curtain Road, EC2A 3PT. Reservations can be made on the restaurant’s website.
