Drill and dancehall nights are routinely labelled high risk, while indie and rock nights face less scrutiny, the study says.
The late Kiss 100 FM host's friends are holding their yearly party in his memory on Coldharbour Lane, from 6pm to 1am on Sunday 27 September.
A free party in Brixton on Sunday 27 September 2026 will mark the birthday of the late DJ Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson. His friends and family are behind the Birthday Boogie, which runs from 6pm until 1am at the Ton of Brix club on Coldharbour Lane.
Anderson died on 2 December 2018. Every year since then, his friends have held a party in his memory and in honour of the influence he had on UK nightclub culture.
Eight DJs from London’s club scene will play on the night. They are Kid Batchelor, Marcia Carr, Johnny Rogue, Jazzi Q, Roy The Roach, Linden C, Dezzi D and AJ.
Entry is free. Organisers want everyone to come along and, as Anderson used to put it, “Boogie any way you wanna”. The club is at number 414 on Coldharbour Lane, and its postcode is SW9 8LF.
Anderson worked as a DJ for four decades. He started out in the youth clubs and soul nights of the 1970s and was still playing when dance music had moved on to big international festivals.
He held residencies at Crackers and the Electric Ballroom. He ran his own night, The Loft, and later Bump N’ Hustle at the Bussey Building.
He was also booked for guest sets at Ministry of Sound and at the Sunrise and Clockwork Orange raves. His festival appearances took in the Southport Weekender and 51st State, and he played Deep Into Soul events as well.
For nine years he presented the Saturday night dance mix show on Kiss 100 FM. People still collect recordings of those shows, and the tapes sell for large sums.
Anderson is credited with helping Barbara Tucker and Jocelyn Brown break through. Ultra Nate and Rosie Gaines also had his support early in their careers. Byron Stingily’s ‘Get Up Everybody’ was one of the records that became a Loft classic.
