Six Tube lines have a Night Tube service on Friday and Saturday nights. They are the Victoria, Piccadilly, Northern, Jubilee, Central and Windrush lines. Every journey is charged at the off-peak fare, and daily capping on Oyster and contactless still applies.

Which lines run on the Night Tube

TfL’s Night Tube page lists a Friday and Saturday night service on these lines:

  • Central line
  • Jubilee line
  • Northern line
  • Piccadilly line
  • Victoria line
  • Windrush line

TfL advises passengers to check before they travel. From Sunday to Thursday, it still carries out upgrade and maintenance work overnight on the Night Tube lines when it can.

Night Tube fares

All Night Tube journeys are charged at off-peak fares. Daily capping also applies when you pay with an Oyster card or a contactless card.

A Day Travelcard carries on into the night as well. It is valid on the date printed on the card and for any journey that starts before 4.30am the following morning. So a Day Travelcard bought at 11am on a Friday can still be used until 4.29am on the Saturday.

Step-free access and station staff

Nothing changes for step-free access after dark. A station with step-free access during the day keeps it while the Night Tube is running.

Every station has London Underground staff on duty for as long as trains are running, in the same way as during the day. TfL says staff will be visible and on hand to answer questions.

Staying safe on the Night Tube

TfL says it works closely with the police to keep crime on the Tube low. Anyone who sees an incident on the network can report it to the British Transport Police by phone or text:

  • Phone: 0800 40 50 40
  • Text: 61016 (texts to this number may cost extra with some mobile networks)

In an emergency, call 999. Station staff can also be alerted in an emergency through a passenger alarm or a help point.

Getting home from a Night Tube station

Night buses serve Night Tube stations across a wide network. TfL publishes night bus maps for all routes, and you can look one up by entering a route number or an area.

Some Night Tube stations have taxi ranks in operation, and TfL shows which ones on its Night Tube map.

According to TfL, the Night Tube shortens night-time journeys by 20 minutes on average, and some trips are cut by more than an hour.

Noise for people living near the lines

TfL says it has been working since 2014 to reduce noise from its tracks. It plans to keep working with residents to look into any problems, and it says it will keep the volume of station announcements in check.
