The Mayfair restaurant will charge 1976 prices for one day, with mains from £4.50, a pianist in the dining room and a band upstairs.
Langan’s Brasserie is marking 50 years in Mayfair by going back to the prices it charged in 1976. On 20 October, and on that day only, the Stratton Street restaurant will serve an anniversary menu priced as it was in its first year. The celebration marks half a century of Langan’s feeding diners in Mayfair.
Starters will cost from £1 and mains from £4.50. The kitchen will be open from 11am until late, so the old prices run across lunch and dinner. Bookings for the anniversary are now open, and diners who want a table on the day are advised to book.
The anniversary menu leans on the restaurant’s history. Liver and bacon with pomme purée is among the dishes that will be served on the day, and every starter and main will carry a price from the restaurant’s opening year.
Music is part of the plan as well. The Langan’s team has promised to bring back some of the spirit and conviviality the restaurant had in its early years. Diners in the main dining room will hear a live pianist throughout the day. On the floor above, a band will play for guests who stop for a drink before or after they eat.
Reservations for the anniversary cannot be made online. Tables can only be booked by email at Reservations@langansbrasserie.com or by phone on 020 7491 8822. Anyone hoping to eat at the old prices should contact the restaurant directly through one of those two routes.
The 1976 prices apply on 20 October only. Langan’s Brasserie is on Stratton Street, W1J 8LB, and Green Park is the nearest station.
